A Veil with Main-Character Energy | M & J’s Hastings House Wedding

M & J’s wedding day had a strong focus on love, family, and a veil that hand some serious main-character energy! Lush gardens, sparkly water, and an easy-going vibe created such a fun and memorable day.

Nestled on the shores of Ganges Harbour, Hastings House Country House Hotel has become one of the most sought-after wedding venues on Salt Spring Island, and for good reason! With its historic charm, award-winning gardens (swoon!) and stunning coastal setting, it's a venue that feels both timeless and deeply connected to the island.

Megan and Jason got ready separately in the farmhouse signature suites, East and West.

It was a gorgeous, sunny day in July with just a little wind. As Megan walked down the aisle with her son, her veil was caught beautifully by the breeze… until it started to fly straight up!

Megan said it was a blessing in disguise, offering a little comedic relief in a moment when she was feeling pretty emotional.

Just before I left, I noticed the light catching the crocosmias so beautifully, I couldn't resist pulling Jason and Megan aside for one last photo.

The day unfolded beautifully: after the ceremony, we captured portraits together in the sprawling gardens, canapés were passed around, and the kids were told they could have as many Shirley Temples as they desired. Jackpot!
