Combining my fine art background + rad people = magic!

Through out my photography program, I was adamant that I never wanted to take peoples pictures. No weddings, no maternity, no family portraits, nothing. It was kind of a weird move as I used to love taking peoples photos when I was in high school and into my 20s.

A couple of years ago, I was travelling through Europe and I met up with a friend from a past life. We’d worked together on Cypress Mountain in Vancouver approximately a million years ago, and were catching up with gin and tonics in some hip hood of London. I mentioned that I had no desire to shoot weddings as a photographer, and mentioned that I loved playing around with experimentation.

She said, “Steph, who says there aren’t rad couples out there that want different portraits created for their wedding? None of this cookie-cutter stuff, but one-of-a-kind, creative portraits that are done in the style you like?”

I’ll be honest: this kind of blew my mind. I hadn’t even thought of that possibility. And then I became pregnant, and then I was on maternity leave, and then we moved, and now here. I. am. I am SO ready to bring some focus and energy back into my photography, in a fresh and exciting way.

If you’re planning on getting married on Salt Spring Island and you’re looking for a photographer to capture some raw and real moments, I’m your girl!

If you’re pregnant and you want to get naked and frolic in the woods, I’m your girl! (See that photo below? I’m past my due date and wanted to lie on the couch and talk to no one. BUT! I decided to get naked and snap some self-portraits in the woods, and I am SO HAPPY I did!)
